The Doldrums of February

Well, its been since November when I last posted and here it is mid-February and I'm just jonesin' to get back out on the water.

We have a Clairion River trip (PA) coming up in April (thats Bob's birthday) and then the Annual Beaver Creek trip on the first weekend of May. And I believe again this year we will be doing a little more sight seeing of the locks from the old Beaver & Sandy canal system (hopefully this year I'll be able to get some decent photos of the locks). While I'm on that subject, look at Jerry King's pictures of the Locks www.sandybeaver.com. He was on the trip with us last year, and his goal is to photograph every lock in the system. Now how cool is that.

So that brings us to Freehawk. Last year about this time we were on our way to the Edisto River to teach Bob the fine art of sipping whiskey, stay in a treehouse and see a cool river. Little known to me, we were to meet Freehawk somewhere in the swamps of South Carolina. Well it all worked out to be a great trip, and now he's working on us for another southern trip. The Suwannee river in Florida sounds good, but that means flying down there and renting somebody else's equipment. That might not be a bad thing, (and of course, time is always tight), but then he started talking about a river in  North Georgia, the Oconee, that was only 6 hours (Appox) away and looked pretty good.

I see that this will probably take a little more thinking than I am capable of right now, so I guess I'll have to continue this thought on the next post. So much paddling to do....and all I can do is think about it right now.
